serialism– uses a definite order of notes as basis for composition (ex: 12 tone composition)
quasi–”as if”, often “almost”, as in quasi niente
aleatoric–chance composition (ex: dice, cards)
diatonic– using notes from the home key (i.e. no accidentals)

musique concrete– adding tape recorded to actual instruments
overtone–a faint higher tone contained within almost any musical tone

glissando–Derived from the French glisser, to glide. So means to glide your fingers over several keys (plural = glissandi)
