All senior Music students upload their work to Box.net-- this keeps all your drafts in one place, creating a portfolio on which you, Mr. B and your Composition Compatriot can comment.

Here’s how:

  1. “Sign Up” at www.box.net– this gets you a username (and 5GB of free storage)
  2. “Accept” the invitation you will receive in your school email to share the “11 Music” folder
  3. Create your own folder in “11 Music”– with your first name and last initial (eg. Chris B)
  4. Upload each draft to Box.netusing the correct filename:
  5. yourname_comp#_draft#_date.sib

So, my first draft would read:

    chrisburcin_comp1_draft1_17feb11.sib

If you don’t use the correct filename, you won’t get a comment–sorry.

In a hurry? View your classmates’ drafts in 11 Music without signing in

Please ADD A COMMENT ON BOX.NET when you’ve uploaded a new draft– what did you change? What do you think it needs? What are your plans (ex: add a new instrument or harmony)?

  1. I have commented on everyone’s latest composition– as long as you uploaded it to the Box or emailed it to me.

Please act upon mu suggestions ASAP. Final compositions are due in Week 2 Term 4!

  2. ^ that was in year 11

  3. last year we were allowed to steal lyrics from other songs and use them, as long as the melody and bal bla was our own

  4. Can we use lyrics to song that are meaningful to us if we change the melody and some words

    • Yes, you may use lyrics from other songs as long as you give credit to the lyricist. Many texts have been used over and over with different melodies.

    this might help some people…

  6. The first thing you need to do is find “meaningful text”– and yes, that means meaningful to you, not necessarily me or anyone.

Of course, that implies that it’s appropriate as well.

If you’re unsure, leave a comment or a link here and someone will be able to help you!

  7. Yo, check out this sweet as guitarist.
